THE CIAO! PROJECT
THE CIAO! PROJECT BY AMPLIFON FOUNDATION
The Ciao! Project involves today about 150 nursing homes throughout Italy, including Calabria, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Marche, Puglia, Tuscany, Veneto and Sicily-and will be soon expanded also abroad.
The project was born to restore the sense of community in nursing homes, through digitilizing and connecting the facilities, bringing the role of the elderly back to the center of the society.
Thanks to the video-connection systems donated by the Amplifon Foundation, the nursing homes which are part of the project are able to restore community moments - such as praying groups, newspapers readings or meetings with volunteers and schoolchildren – and to facilitate useful services, from medical consultations to any administrative or bureaucratic issues, recovering the spirit of togetherness and bringing guests back to being active participants in their daily lives, making them feel an active part of their community once again.
The initiative is conducted in partnership with Cisco, Durante and Samsung.
We have also established a program which includes, interactive events live broadcasted through these video-systems such as classical music concerts, entertainment theatre based on popular music, silver-yoga classes, digital trips, and art therapy sessions, all designed exclusively for the guests of nursing homes. In this, we have partnerships such as La Fil - Filarmonica di Milano, the Compagnia Teatrale Gino Franzi, Miravilius, the art lab Conlemani and MondoYoga.
A special thanks to the Andreotti-Brusone Foundation for supporting the initiative.
“Bringing Italian nursing homes back to the center of intergenerational dialogue means recognizing in the hosts of these communities a valuable resource, a human heritage of sensitivity and a social reference to be cared for”
